NEW JBL VRX Portable Line Array PA
system for The Dark Blues
We have a long
standing working relationship with the The
Dark Blues, long known as "Britain's most popular
party musicians" – a title originally coined
by Harpers & Queen
Their career highlights include
many of the Royal Family's private parties at Buckingham
Palace and Windsor Castle. Phil Collins – who played
alongside the band at HRH Prince Charles' 40th birthday – subsequently
asked them to play for his wedding in 1997, and for his
wife's party in Geneva on Millennium Night.
Bandleader Nigel
Tully had expressed an interest in upgrading the bands
PA system, to reduce the size and increase coverage and
quality, not such an easy task when the band already
owns a highly competant system.
Researching the possibilities
showed that the JBL
VRX 932 compact portable line array system with
matching VRX
918 subs would fit the bill in all respects.
An
audition of the system arranged through our close
colleague Chris
Gunton at CGA Integration and
the system immediately showed itself to be all that
Nigel and the band were looking for, with a smaller
footprint,
high quality sound and improved sightlines, and an
order was placed at the demo, to include the new
VRX speakers,
flightcasing and a new Yamaha SPX2000 digital reverb..
The delivered system is now hard at work with the band and
helping them keep their audiences entertained like never before.
